But the bad guys consist of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of idiots on the internet, They wont just go away if we leave it there long enough they will keep messing around with Spam names and inappropriate names till most of Vista babbles community are people who have posted zero posts with a wacky name, and trying to delete all those members is a waste of time for Vista babbles staff who could be focusing on incorporating some of your ideas from previous posts.

I've put it back in place, but I refuse to submit my legitimate users to the foul language that these idiots use. And using a bad language filter is only a bandaid that they can easily get around. I have put some spam filters in place, and I will watch it like a hawk, but if these idiots continue to choose offensive user names I *will* take the new member section off again. The comfort of my legit users is my biggest concern, and always will be. That means no offensive language thrown in their face.

i agree with dazzlin i thing that we who have done are best to make vistababble the best it hurts when their are things that down this site i have grown to know a few people here and i can say that im glad im a part off this site ive made new friends here and outside thanks to this site........

dazzlin here a solution u could inplament...on some off my other sites im with u cant join unless someone invites u form the site....itll help stop the bad ones and kinda make it a safer site....before they can be added the pirson has to varify that they gave them the invite.........

That's a good idea for some forums, but I would hate to exclude people who really need help with a Vista problem. I want everyone to feel welcome to come here and get help. So, I don't think an invite system would be appropriate here. But it would be a great way to deal with spam on a different type of forum. Good idea.

Just attach a 'Hi' topic on the registration form as a prerequisite to membership ... That way when people become members they have to post a 'Hi' in the 'introduce yourself' section automatically. This will deter spammers as it lengthens the process and will also allow people like Josh to say hello to all new members.

PS: I wouldn't go removing zero posters as they make our membership look more respectable

i don't think implementing a say hi message when you sign up would stop these guys if anything it gives them more room to spam meaning we will have bad posts as well as bad names, I think the only way to keep this site pure is to get rid of the newest member feature. I think this site is amazing and dint wont a bunch of idiots to ruin it.

I think we should get rid.......so the site doesn't give out the wrong impression, because this site has got a good community why let a few idiots get in the way, what ever happens I'm sure the guys at vista babble will sort something out. I'm glad dazzlin takes a great interest in the members of Vista babble and would like to thank her for doing something about it.

I will be adding more moderators after the contest is over. I don't want to take away anyone's chances at winning the contest, so we'll have to handle the problems on our own for a while.
