Question Question about uploading custom avatars

I have looked, and used the search and I can't find any instructions or rules about using our own avatars. How do we upload our own custom avatars? Wasn't sure where to ask.
OOps found it, sorry about that. Now I can help someone else at least. (duh!)

No problem.
Just remember when uploading custom avatars they are hosted through Imageshack or a similar free hosting site and not directly from where the picture came from.

Oh, so that's why I see the "transferring data form imageshack" and other places when checking out posts. I wondered about that. So do I have to have an online storage site, or is it done automatically? When I saw the option to upload a picture from the computer I thought it just transferred directly.
(I still need an image resizer before I go any further anyway, I'm going to check it out.) Thanks for the info.

There are several very good "Image Resizers" FREE on the internet... I used Google to find the one I use... I also use "Easy Thumbnails" FREE for making links to the full size Pic.

Right on, thanks!....so...I need an online storage site...right?? I've never had need for anything like that before, so that's something I have to look into.
(I thought I saw an upload from computer option)
Gonna download Paint.net too.

I use Thunderbird only, so far.
I have free online storage through my ISP ,I'm pretty sure, so I could also check that out. So we can't upload them directly from a computer I'm assuming. Its not critical to me, but something I wouldn't mind doing. I :downloaded Paint.net so I have an easy image resizer on this system now.
A hotmail account could be handy too, my ISP has a live mail kind of thing too. Thanks for getting back to me.
