I haven't heard of those problems. The only problem I have is if I reboot with a USB key plugged in I'm stopped at the boot screen and will go no further until I plug it out and reboot.

I don't believe this is a Vista bug. That type of error appears to be a server problem (connection).

Right, I aborted my upgrade when told that the online update would not, "at this time," work. And, so far I am glad that I did. Others have installed and have found that update does not work after installing either.

Cured the update issue with 5744, did a complete re-install. Sill didn't find any satisfactory answer to my error code, but seems it's been resolved.

Lets end these probs I found that I had probs on 5600 and 5728 (not just with windows update but windows defender update as well). However I found no probs at all on 5744 (however from what I have read some have) I did see on the download page for RC2 5744 that there "Could Be" lesser support via windows update for RC2 but for the 56-57 probs I would say its an MS server probs.

That's good. Have you tried MusicMatch Jukebox; Vista says it won't work under 5744. Given that, and one other issue, I would have too many problems moving to 5744 just to get update working. I don't really need any updates in 5728, but I'd check anything available out if I ever got there again.

You are a very good/nice/helpful crab. I mentioned the MMJB stuff on another thread that you will see for sure. Assuming that you have a handheld, I need to know if you can get to the update that makes it sync with outlook. I can't get into the details of how to do it now--I have to run out the door right away. But, I posted the procedure--probably in the Tips section. Ta Ta for now. Thanks again.
