| Hi I bought a laptop with Vista Home Premium last year with absolutely no issues. However, 2 days ago my laptop decided to stop recognizing all USB devices such as my ipod, mouse, phone etc and I have no idea what could have caused it as its totally out of the blue. Whenever I plug one of them in I get the “USB device not recognized message”. Prior to this, any USB device I used would just plug in and work perfectly with minimal fuss, even on first install. I even installed Vista Service Pack 1 yesterday to see if it would help, but to no avail. It’s driving me crazy now. Can anyone please help?! |

| Try a system restore back to a point before your problem began.

| Open device manager and see if there are any flags on any devices like usb hubs or usb devices and if so maybe try installing the drivers by updating them. It does not ask or say it has to install any drivers either are you plugging into the same port you have used in the past for said device like ipod or the mouse. Have you installed any new software or anything like that except sp1.
