audio but no video when streaming

I have a strange problem that has got me stumped. When I go to some sites that stream video using media player I can hear sound but have no video. It happened when I upgraded to WMP11 I thought maybe it was something that was a problem on the hosts end but I can view the same stream from my neighbors house running vista and wmp 11 and from my pc running xp and wmp11 so I am pretty sure that its a problem with my media player. Any suggestions?

BTW running vista premium OEM from what I have read in other threads it sounds like I might need to repair using the upgrade on my DVD but before I do that I thought I would give you guys a shot

Thanks, Josh

check in msconfig and see if you have a startup entry for windows media player, if you do enable it and restart.

If all else fails, maybe try re-installing! :s

I'd fiddle with the streaming options in media player. It may be that your connection is set incorrectly. However, it may also simply be that you don't have the correct codec installed. Grab a codec pack from online (there are a lot of great free ones) and install it. At least then you'll know if the issue is media player itself.
