Backwards Compatibility

I have an older Promise Ultra TX2 IDE controller in my Vista machine and it doesn't recognize it. I went to Promise's site, and they only have XP/2003 drivers. They work, but I'm a big believer in the right tool/right job mentality.

That being said, I reported it to MS and they informed me that they won't be supporting that model in Vista.

My question is why the hell not! It doesn't make sense to me to not support something that was already supported along the lines.

I assume it's Promise's responsibility to come out with drivers. I'd be contacting Promise, not Microsoft.

Promise is terrible with drivers, I have a raptor 74 gig hard drive in my computer and I could never get it working as a SATA drive.....i could get it as a raid array sure (but I didn't have a spare drive)

I hate promise.

I agree, but MS had support for it in XP. It just doesn't make sense is all. Why take away from something that was already integrated into the OS?
