Biggest Problem with 5384

Hi All:

I have several problems with 5384. The biggest is internet connectivity. I have a 5384 drive and an XP Pro drive. I never have a connectivity problem with the latter. On the other hand, I have trouble staying online when using the 5384 drive. Our router is the Linksys WRT54GS. Taking a flyer, I substituted Linksys high-gain antennas--to no avail. 5384 appears to find no problems with any of my drivers--except for those of known problem children. All help and thoughts will be greatly appreciated. I can't use my 5384 drive consistently until I solve this problem.

I used to have the exact same router (when I was on XP) and it constantly dropped my connection. I finally threw it away. Granted, that's not the same scenario as yours, since it works great for you on XP but not on Vista. But I'd still tend to wonder if its the router itself. I'll do some digging around and see if I can come up with anything more helpful.

I know this is way out there but. . . I was having a problem with the network connection here at home on the Lynksys router AND my Synaptic mouse pad was acting erratic. These problems did not crop up for a whole week but after a few updates hmmmmm, I uninstlled the Synaptic drivers and let Vist figrue it out natively and tada it all works now fine including network connectivity.

Thanks again 0. You may be psychic. My next most serious problem in that I have no control over the settings form my, yes, Synaptic touchpad. Maybe I'll give uninstalling its drivers a shot. Worst case is that I'll have to use my laser mouse with my Vista drive.

Just goes to show that even "way out there" ideas might be the solution! Woohoo!

You're the man 0. What a nutty solution. But, uninstalling my synpactics driver(s) appears to be keeping me online. much. Chant: 0 ... ... ... ....

My touchpad is working just as before. I disabled single clicks to open earlier because I was unable to disable tapping to open. So, I still have a minor trackpad problem--single tapping opens links. But, that's no big deal. I have many fewer accidents with single tapping for links than with single tapping for open (too). I don't think the synpatics driver(s) were doing anything.
