I am showing a black shadow on the monitor(19"Samsung) ONLY on the desk-top. As soon as I open a program, this shadow goes away. I have tried re-connecting the monitor, but it doesn't help. I have had this monitor for about a year. I contacted Samsung and they feel that it is not the fault of the monitor I have only had this computer, and Vista for a few days. | Have you tried changing your brightness and contrast settings, just a few days ago i purchased a new 32" Hitachi HDTV and i had to calibrate it quite a bit to get it to look right with the positioning of the TV in my room. It could be that your contrast is to low for certain colours hence the shadowing.

| The shadow is only on the right side, and extends, in an irregular pattern for about a3/4 of an inch. And, as I said in my first post, it only there when I am in desk-top. As soon as I go to anything else, it disappears. I am not familiar with "aero" what is that ? |

| It's the sidebar. Just exit it and it'll go away. There will be an icon near the clock that you can right click to exit. Also, if you right click it and go to properties you can stop it from starting every time windows loads. crabby |
