boot up prblem

this is driving me nuts. I did a clean install of vista from dvd, it installed fine works great.......or so it seemed

problem is it refuses to boot off the hardrive, the only way i can get it to start is if cmos is set to boot from thedvd first, then the hard drive... and the vista dvd has to be in teh dvd drive.

its acually quite the hair puller, I'm on that same computer and its working great.. just it wont boot off the hardrive alone.

Welcome roasted. Your problem is an absolutely new one to me. Surely, it is a boot loader/menu issue--which I know little about. So, I am deferring to those who do. On the other hand, I will continue to think about your problem since I may be wrong about its source.

So let me get this right, if you change the Bios to boot from floppy, cd, then hd but dont have the disk in it wont boot?

If that is the case, first thing I would do is to see if there is a newer bios version...see if you can flash it.

I figured out what the problem is...sorta..Im not sure how it happend exactly. I had some funny buisness going on between my IDE and SATA II hard drive when vista installed. the file boot.mnger was put on to D drive for some reason, but the computer doenst search D on boot up.

I remooved the IDE hard drive and ran windows repair and its now running well.

I am glad that you found your problem. You may be able to avoid it in the future. We don't allow discussion of pirated software here. So, please revise your above post ASAP. Otherwise, I will have to "clean it." Thank you.

Best regards,

Znod

done...even though I think what i said would of discuraged people from trying to find a pirated copy.

the preloaded viruses in the sys32 files of my vista copy are proving imposible to remove and keep respawning. as such, i now have system with comprimised internet security, and I will most likley have to reformat my hard drive to get rid of the problem.

Indeed sounds like a HACKED version of Vista and maybe "Internet Security Program" also...
I'd agree... FORMAT the HD and install any OS that is not HACKED.

Thanks much roasted. Please keep in mind that we don't discuss illegal/EULA- breaking activities here except in general terms. By precluding specific, for example, "I did it discussions," "how to do it discussions,"how to remedy a problem with pirated software discussions," "here's a torrent for XYX software pirating," etc., we do our best not facilitate piracy and to not provide support for those who pirated. If, for example, someone asks for help with a pirated Vista our official fix for the problem is for the individual to obtain a non-pirated/non EULA- breaking copy of Vista.
