| I have a strange problem with vista ultimate 32bit. Everytime i try to watch a divx or an mpeg movie, after 2 seconds of playing i get BSOD with a generic hardware error. I tried all the possible solution: - changed motherboard, rams, cpu, hard disk and video card (whole pc..) - reinstalled os - updated bios - tried all codecs under the moon The problem is always there, also after a fresh install, without installing any codec, i launch the file, i hear only audio but still bsod after 2 or 3 seconds. Plz help me, i don't know how i can solve this problem. Thanks to all, and sorry for bad english. Bye |

| Firstly... ![]() Secondly... HOLY HELL! You have done ALOT to try and sort this problem. I wouldn't have thought it was a hardware issue though, simply a codec issue. Try VLC from here: www.videolan.org It comes with intergrated codecs so you need not install any and I know it works for me Lastly... Your English is great! Glad to have you around... tell us if VLC helps! crabby |

| Thanks for the fast reply. Unfortunately i tried with vlc and no luck... same bsod. I don't believe that is a codec issue, as i said in my firs post, bsod appears playing movies also without video codecs installed. I have thought that coluld be an audio codec problem, then i tried most mp3 codecs like fraunhofer or lame but no luck again! The only thing that help is disable the on board audio from bios, without audio i can see some minutes of video, and then.... bsod again. Tried a pci sound card but same results as using integrated one. |

| Oooo that's wierd :| Can you play any videos? Like DVDs? What about screensavers? Video games? Does aero work correctly? What graphics cards have to ried using? What motherboards? What CPUs? Anything overclocked? There are lots of other questions I can't think of atm... just post as much info as you can. Can you get the code off the BSOD? crabby |

| I don't have a dvd to try it out. I get bsod with divx and mpg. Video games runs perfectly. Aero works fine. I tried An Asrock 4core dual VSTA and now i have an Asus P5B. For video i have tried an Ati x1300 and now i have a geforce 7600gt. No overclock, rams tested with goldmemory and windows vista ram test and are ok. |

| Are your using the WDDM Vista drivers or are you use NVidia Drivers? If your not using Vista WDDM drivers... recommend you do so... How: control panel, system, device manager, look under display adapter. UNINSTALL THE CARD INFO... WHICH IS DELETING THE DRIVERS. Reboot and allow Vista to install Default WDDM drivers... then see if all plays well... FIXed my BSOD and nvcplui.exe errors, and nvlddmkm errors. I have seen the same errors for EVERY Video CARD that is from NVidia and installed in Vista... Until NVidia figures out how to bypass the LOOP Vista uses. there will be many problems with NVidia drivers... or simply dual boot to XP and all Video plays GREAT.

| Hello, I have the same problem as spitjo. I tried to reinstall codecs, drivers, vista... changed my hard disk, vga, ram but no luck. I really don't know how can I solve it. The only solution I have so far is dual-boot but it is very annoying and it is not exactly a solution. Any luck with this problem? Thanks a lot! |

what type of video are you playing? Store bought or Downloaded? downloaded using what protocol? What is the .EXT of the Video? avi, mp3, mp4, vob, rtm, ? what program are you using to ?? play the Videos? What is the required Codec? what Burner programs do you have installed and if more than one in which order did you install.? (Remove Dr. DIVX if you have it installed. - install the Divx Codec only.) make sure the CODEC package your using is for VISTA, the XP pack is different.

| Hello again! Sorry for answering so late... About Snuffy's 1st post: I had never installed any drivers from Nvidia so I don't think so that this is my problem. About the video files now. I usually play .avi and .mkv and I use media player classic (mostly) and media player 11. The codec pack I use is k-lite but I installed other packs too while I was trying to solve the problem. Right now I uninstalled everything and I use VLC. It seems to work... No BSOD so far... If something changes I will bother you again. Thanks for all the help!!!! |
