| i have a laptop with windows vista basic. when i burn any kind of file, jpeg, avi, btmp, etc. to a cd (or put it on a flash drive,) and then try to open it on my desktop (which is an xp) the drive or cd opens but its blank, like i never burnt the files to the cd / flash drive. is this because vista is newer and has more advanced properties that xp cant read or do i just need to change some settings? |

| The answer is yes, Vista should be able to read those type of files. Something is not going well. What application are you using to burn or transfer the files to the portable devices?

| I believe your XP machine has an old CD drive which doesnt support multisessions. This is where you can continue to fill the disk until it is full in as many sessions as you wish. Older CD drives do not support this feature and so cannot see where the files start (usually there is a string that leads the laser to them). If you diisable this feature in Vista you should see the files on the XP machine. crabby |

| He also mentioned about experiencing the same problem when saving files using flash drives as well. The issue could be either the Vista or the XP machine. The easiest way to isolate Vista would be to tried the save data on another Vista or XP machine. I the data can be read, the problem is with the XP machine. On the other hand, is the data cannot be read, then we’ll have to assume an issue with the Vista machine.
