whenever i attempt to download anything, whether left clicking to dowload or right clicking to "save as", a new window pops up labled as "install provider". the install provider confirms the url im dowloading from, gives me the path and what folder it is downloading to, and has the options of run, download, or cancel. i click download and it goes thru the progression as though it is downloading giving me download time and speed info. problem is that when it completes the file is not actually downloaded. i follow the path and check the folder it should be ibn but its not there or in any other that i can find. has anyone else experienced this? this just started about 2 weeks ago. ![]() |

| With Vista almost all downloads are actually downloaded in compressed format to a "TMP" file, then the files are moved to the assigned folder. seems that you have a corrupt file somewhere. suggest to find/fix if possible with: start --> cmd (run as admin) then type SFC /scannow (this is a program thats builtin and scans your system files for any changed/altered/corruption. and can repair them for you... the process is slow and you need your install DVD, to fix if any are found.. to check and see what SFC does, first type SFC /? and it will give you the info . This is a Builtin Microsoft program. 2. If that fails to find anything. then try from the Install DVD a repair of Vista. 3. If that fails to fix then suggest you RESTORE back to prior to the problem. Post back and let us know.

| Do you have a third party download manager installed? Go to Control Panel and check the Unistall a Program, if one of those download utilities is installed, remove it. Many times those utilities are install during the installation of some programs, like Acrobat Reader and such. One way to prevent this is to choose Custom Install during installation of any program, when that option is available of course. |
