Question Cannot reduce icon size

The icons on my desk top are huge...more than double the size of my XP icons at the same reolution. Went to the display properties and it displayed an icon size of "32". I changed it to "16" but the icon size did not change.. they just got closer together.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

It appears that you need to adjust your display settings: Right click empty space of desktop > Select Personalization > Display Settings > Move slider (resolution) to the right

You can try going to the Ease of access center and make sure your DPI scaling is set to 96.

Right click on the desktop -> View -> Classic Icons (or) CTRL + Scroll up or down, this changes the icon size in explorer and on the desktop.

Your suggestion pointed to the solution. When I clicked on view I noticed that it was set for medium icons...changed to classic and the icons became smaller.

Thanks.

But on my desktop and laptop the icons are set to medium and are already small...if I go to Classic they become very small. So there has to be another reason why yours become large when set to medium. I believe medium is the default setting.
