Hi, I bought a new VAIO from Canada with Windows Vista installed. There is a problem reading the CD-ROM drive. The device manager has indicated that "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)" Please advise what I should do to fix the issue. The DVD is Mat****a DVD-RAM UJ-842S ATA Device. Reintalling the driver didn't solve the problem. |

| You may want to verify that the CD-ROM is connected correctly. Is it installed on IDE1 or IDE2? Normally is connected on IDE2 and the main hard drive on IDE1. Depending on how it’s connected, you must set the jumpers correctly on the back of the CD-ROOM. The CD-ROM should have a label indicating the correct position for the jumper. If you need any additional advice let us know. |

Go here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/pro...a/default.mspx. Then, search on code 39. You will find many possibly pertinent reads.
