Conexant Audio

HP DV5000 Series Notebook
2 G RAM
1.6 ghz
120G disc
conexant audio/modem

32 Vista Beta 2 ran my audio fine after I disabled driver signing enforcement but the RC1 release is giving fits.

I got sound working with the AC'97 drivers but the line in and the Mic dont work.

OK my hardware works on the beta but not the RC? whoa! what the ...?

I'm looking on the Vista RC1 installation DVD I made and there is a folder named EFI.
extensible firmware initialization
Vista will only operate hardware Microsoft approves? Is that what EFI means? But my notebook has a Vista Capable sticker on it...

SeaSky, I got this info from Microsoft. Keep in minds that this is from engineers, so it does take an effort to understand. EFI stands for Extensible Firmware Interface, a successor of the BIOS system. It is responsible for initializing hardware in the PC, and more importantly, device drivers are stored in the EFI flash memory rather than being loaded by the operating system. EFI also allows for dual-booting windows. The EFI will not be supported by windows until Longhorn Server is released in early 2007, and on top of that it will never support a 32-bit processor.
U might want to contact ur PC manufacturer support team. Please if u do contact them and get an answer, post it here so we can gain some knowledge. Good luck, and again, welcome.

Both your problems are not permanent. I would suggest you give me your hard disk make and model and I will see what I can dig up... looks like drivers Don't worry about the EFI stuff, it isn't your problem. As usual the problem is just drivers Shame it worked in beta though...
