Hi, I have a workgroup setup which is working fine on two PC's using XP. Both of the other machines can see my laptop (which uses Vista Business) but I can't even see the workgroup. Any ideas what I can try to fix this would be great |

| One thing you should do is make sure all computers have the same workgroup name: Win XP default name is MSHOME and Vista's is Workgroup. Rename the network with same name. Right-click Computer > Properties > Under Computer name, domain and workgroup settings, click Change > On Computer Name tab click Change next to “To rename this computer, click Change > Type new workgroup name under: Workgroup. |

| My father-in-law has the same problem. Main PC is XP and new laptop is Vista. New laptop can see the router just fine and can share the Internet connection with no problem, but the router is the only thing showing up in the Network. Both workgroup names are the same. I tried everything I could thing of, but finally gave up.

| There are four PCs on my network, two running Vista (one wired and one wireless) and two running XP connected wireless. I just turned "Network discovery" on and all Vista computers and they all can talk to each other, including the XP PCs. So perhaps the issue could be caused by the router itself or its firewall settings. |

| I did. Felix, it sounds like one of your Vista pc's is the one that is wired directly to the router, yes? In my case, his XP pc is the one that is wired directly to the router.

| Yes, my main PC, with Vista on it, is wired to the router. Perhaps that's the difference, but when I first had the service installed, all my PCs were wireless; my main PC sits in my bedroom and my wife didn't like the router's blinking lights. Anyway, my daughter and I used to modify photos (e.g. adding mustaches, beard, etc., where none were supposed to exist) and shared them back and forth (it was fun). Now, that was over three months ago, so I don’t remember what I did to make it work, if anything. |

| Regardless of whether it's wired or wireless, I believe one pc is considered the "main" connection to the net, and all other pc's share it's connection. Right? So, my speculation is that if that main connection is running XP, then Vista boxes may have problems seeing its workgroup.
