Very good on the M8000n. Yes, understand that BestBuy is being SUED over some of there (practices).

DOES THIS HAPPEN WHEN YOU HAVE A CLEAN INSTALL, and none of your 3rd party program installed.
which version of Vista?
Exactly what is D:\ being filled with? Restore makes a restore point after many different program installs.
a pic would help alone with the .ext's.
what size if your D:\ ?
what method are you using to "put to sleep"
have you checked your control panel - power options - setting for "sleep".
have you made sure you do not have "awake" to defrag set in a schedule.
do you have your desktop hooked to anything else: tv, dvd player, ipod, etc, etc,
There are several program which can tell us what all you have installed, that might also be MESSing with your SLEEP...
download and install and run BELARC - it is FREE.

Further search says it comes with Written Documentation and support are exemplary. HP includes a 179-page manual that explains many of the intricacies of Windows Media Center, a 65-page Start Here booklet, and a 29-page Troubleshooting and Maintenance Guide. The system is backed by a one-year limited warranty, including 24/7 support via phone, online chat, and e-mail.

HP includes all the software you’re likely to need, including Microsoft Works, Muvee AutoProducer 5.0 (for assembling your video clips into eye-catching movies), and Roxio’s Creator Basic and MyDVD Basic (for CD and DVD creation and playback). You also get a 60-day trial for Microsoft Office Student and Teacher Edition, as well as a 60-day subscription to Norton Internet Security. The one downside was navigating the myriad program icons populating the desktop—the only instance with the m8000n where more actually seemed to be less.

I really think we need a copy of the 179 page manual WHICH reviews say is exemplary. plus explains many of the intricacies of Windows Media Center, a 65-page Start Here booklet, and a 29-page Troubleshooting and Maintenance Guide.
