Vista Home Prem., HP Dv 9008nr, 1.6 Ghz Dual Core, 1500 Ram, 100GB Hard Drive When I run the Defrag it runs but never finalizes. I tried to run from safe mode and it wont even start. Any ideas? Thanks |

| Try running the defrag from cmd prompt. Atleast that way you can tell us where it gets stuck crabby |

| Start -> All programs -> Accessories... right click command prompt and 'Run as Administrator'. Once it opens up type defrag C: -a to see how fragmented the drive is. Once that completes, if you want to defragment the drive type defrag C: -w (you can also use -v to show more information during defrag). To get more information on the defrag -? command just type defrag and it will show you all of the extensions. crabby |

| to follow up on Crabbys suggestion, turnoff your Antiviris program, they normally recheck the movement of files ... that also will cause the defrag to restart and finally hang... (PS: that means no internet connection also). and some Firewalls will also make Defrag hang & restart .
