Desktop icons continually jumbled

When my computer shuts down because of a low battery, the icons on my desktop often get moved around, even when I have Align and Arrange and everything else checked. I have tried IconRestore, and another registry hack that basically did what Iconrestore was supposed to do, but to no avail. This is getting to be a pain in the behind. Is there something I can do about this?

I don't believe the issue is with Vista, but hard to say. Do you have or had any other program installed to configure Vista’s appearance or the likes?

I had tweakVI a while back, but I uninstalled it. I don't think I ever downloaded any other program.

Check your registry and make sure there are no traces of TweakVI. I know it's easier saying than done, but it might clear your issue. Just be careful of what you delete from the registry; if unsure, don't do it.

Well I deleted several references in my registry to TweakVI. We'll see if that makes any difference. Thanks for the replies.

Well icon trouble again, and this was after at least a couple of reboots (since my last post). This isn't a major annoyance, but man this never happened to me in XP and I'm a bit disgruntled that this is happening in 2007. Oh well thanks anyways Felix for your time.

Sorry, I can't think of anything else. Though I do think it has to do with some application, other than Vista.

I have never used TWEAKVI or any of them, and once in a while I find the icon(s) is messed up, changed, yes annoying, but better than the elusive trashcan...that is more annoying that it simply disappears.
No idea what happens or why...it simply happens..
