Rob, if you have anyway of backing up the data on the windows partition, I would suggest an easy way to change it is to reinstall. Just delete that one partition and make as many as required in its place.

maybe this should be in a new thread but here goes. If I leave my OS on a partition the size of 305GB, does that slow it down? I know it's an awful waste of memory but it seems it's either that or get invloved with things I really know nothing about i.e., 3rd party (Acronis) software, creating bootable disks etc -

any thoughts on the will be much appreciated and cheers

I would say if you leave it a big partition you should use a good 3rd part defrag software i am using Diskeeper Pro 2007 for Vista on 3 systems running in the background and defrags only when system is idle and it is great the system is crisp and fast all the time. I also checked to see if I could shrink my Drive C and it will let me do it no problem but what is keeping you system from doing I have yet to see any info on why you cannot do what you want to do with your drive.http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tuto...torial133.html Check this link out for info on what you are trying to do and see if it helps

After doing some testing I also find Vista's dsk management lacking... and I (IMHO) grossly lacking... So I borrowed a FULL copy of Acronis Disk Director Suite 10.2160 - wow it is also lacking it does not support Dynamic Partitions. What a Crock of CRUD>.. again (IMHO) I surely would not buy it... so I also will be trying other 3rd part partition managers for Vista...

Acronis OS Selector has detected unsupported hard disk drives. Acronis OS Selector does not support Windows Dynamic Disks, EZ-Drives, etc.Acronis OS Selector will not be able to access these hard disk drives.

Hmm - after spending several days trying to resize my C drive, I was about to buy Acronis - until I read your post..

Can you recommend a package that WILL resize dynamic disks? !

It appears Ghost may have done this but is no longer sold?? Was 1003 the last version.. what have Symantec replaced it with?
Too many questions, I am sorry :)

I am still looking for Vista enabled programs. which will do a GOOD Job. I used PQ 8.05 uptill Vista came out... waiting for Symantec to get things working. But it might be a VISTA PROBLEM... Any info I find will be posted here...

I also hope that anybody else who finds will also post here.
