| Sound like a corruption of Explorer. I would suggest (as admin) running this command in the cmd propmt SFC /scannow. If that doesnt work I would restore to a point before the problem occured (and check what could have possibly caused it). If the issue still persists I would do a repair install of Vista from the disk. crabby |

| The best time to troubleshoot an issue like the one described is when it first start. I've mentioned this before, there are some programs, including popular programs like adobe acrobat that will install some unneeded applications without the user consent. This can be prevented by selecting custom or advanced installation for each program, making sure the application is from a trusted developer, installing and trying one application at a time and creating a ‘restore point’ before launching the installation. Once the program is installed and the issue begins, one should stop the process, if possible, and look for add-ons like icons, toolbars or applications created by the program, e.g. when downloading adobe acrobat reader, by default it will download and install the Google toolbar. Some of these add-ons can be removed through Vista’s ‘uninstall and change program’, but others can be more difficult to detect and remove. But keep in mind that some programs will leave tracks behind that could still create problems. If one created a restore point before installing the application, one can get rid of the application by using system restore. Some applications require more drastic measures, like editing the register, which should be done by someone who has experienced in dealing with the register, or by doing a repair install. |

| He might also run Cmd from the DVD. That is the first time I have heard that you can not start --> cmd (rightclick "run as Admin") very interesting. would like very much to know what the MSG is that it can not run CMD. Sounds like a (BotNet) TROJAN to me..
