This is the only bug I have noticed so far. My computer shows this: ![]() The problem is that it is showing an nonexisting floppy drive. I uninstalled it in Device Manager but it keeps popping back up. Plus I have it turned off in BIOS so I don't know why Vista keeps seeing one.

| Hi, For some reason the icon for my floppy drive does not look the same as yours. I do have a floppy drive installed and working. I am just pointing this out for maybe some sort of clue what could be causing your problem. It may not help you at all. |

| Sean, there is only one setting I see for the floppy drive in BIOS, it is either installed or not installed. My computer did not come with a floppy and at one time I installed one but it never worked right. It said every disc I put in was defective so I pulled it out and turned it off in BIOS. XP did not list this drive in My Computer when I was using it. Maybe SP1 will address the problem RicB, that is strange that the icons are different

| Yeah I have, it says "Please insert a floppy disc into Drive A:" And not only that, it is working properly too: ![]() Maybe I should have titled this thread "Floppy Drives: The Phantom Menace"

| Very good Midway. I appreciate your desire to solve your problem. Sometimes I just accept what appear to be Vista anomalies. I pretty much always do the same thing if I want to rid myself of one though. I do a repair install. My estimate is that about 75% of the time a repair install make the "menace" disappear, and, in principle, such installs are harmless. Still, I always make sure everything is backed up before a I do one.

| Well, I do like a challenge now and then. I am reluctant to do a repair install because I do not know what effect it will have on my...er...unusual install. Sometimes I get this feeling to just get it over with and go back to Home Premium but a little hope keeps me going that one day someone may post a solution to that 'problem' I have.
