Gothic 2 not installing

Hi guys. I am having a problem getting this game installed. When I try to
install the game it tells me there's insufficient memory. But my 2 hard drive
partitions have 35 and 42 gig respectively and I have a pagefile of 4345mb
and 2 gig of ram which when trying to install gothic 2 is about 50% free.

My system specifications are:
Aopen 700 psu
intel core2duo e6400
asus p5n32 e sli bios 1002
2x1 gig ddr 2 800 mhz team extreem memory
1x 250 gig seagate baracuda sata 2 drive split into 2 partitions
nvidia 8800 gts 640 mb driver 158.42
soundmax addon soundcard
windows vista home premium 32bit

It means the game isn't seeing the spec correctly.

Have you tried installing it from the setup.exe in compatability mode directly from the CD?

Either the game is reading your config wrong or you have memory that is corrupt or has failed...
have you ran MEMTEST?
have you ran any memory diagnostics?

I had tried xp sp 2 compat mode, win 98 and win 95 mode.

I have now tried win 2000 mode and it's now installing. Makes no sense but it works now.

But I have one slight problem when any in game movie or intro is played the screen goes black.

Ram is fine. No errors it was a compat mode problem.

I think it's bink but I am not sure. Yeah running same mode. Playing without videos doesn't matter I have seen the videos before on my older system.

If you go here: http://www.radgametools.com/bnkdown.htm

Download the RAD video tools, it includes the newest version of Bink Video which I believe works in Vista. Obviously what installs in old games is what is on the disk and so is an older version.

If it doesnt work, then let me know

thanx. I can get the video to play outside the game by playing the files now. Still can't get them to work inside the game.

Hmm... the game probably uses the old executables.

Contact the manufacturers to patch it
