help: how can i install http ssl service in vista (for media sharing)???

Hey everyone,

Recently my media sharing capability through windows media player stopped working. I checked my settings in network and sharing center and the button next to media sharing does nothing anymore. But when i switch to the network to public it works which i think is unusual. After a little digging online i found out that one of the services that needs to be enabled and installed is http ssl service. I don't have it anymore which is weird because i used to share media through media player easily and it worked really well. So if anyone has any idea on how i could do this that would be great!!

thanks

You should be able to install it quite easily. Unfortunately I can't check right now as I am at work. Have to tried running the network connection wizard, as that can be used to set up sharing.

So I gather that you already went to Network and Sharing Center and went to Network Discovery and selected Turn on network discovery. I had the same issue as yours and that fixed it.

yup did all that. No matter I got fed up with it and reinstalled vista yesterday, now everything is working as it should. To be on the safe side i plan to make a complete pc backup in case anything like this should happen again.

thanks guys
