Hotfix does not apply to system quandry

Hello,

I think I found hotfixes to make my game work but for some reason when I try to install the Hotfixes it says it does not apply to my system, I don't see why? It looks to me like it does apply to my system and is needed. The hotfixs are:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936710/
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940105

My System is:
HP Blackbird 002 PC
- Intel Extreme Quad-Core 3.0GHz
- Windows Vista Ultimate System Builder 32 bit
- Dual NVIDIA GeForce 8800 Ultra with NVIDIA SLI
- CPU and Graphic cards liquid cooling
- 2 GB 800 MHz CORSAIR PC2-6400 DDR2 SDRAM
- 1 160GB 10,000 rpm SATA (Western Digital Raptor)
- 1 500GB 7200 rpm SATA
- 2 Super multi-drive with Lightscribe (DVD+/-R/RW+/-DL)
- ADI onboard audio

*all drivers are up to date.

I'm trying to get the game, "The Witcher" to play. Everytime I play the game it crashes within a few seconds. I have 2 video cards and if I turn off one of them, the game last 10 minutes then crashes. I get a message everytime time that says display drivers nvlddmkm has stopped responding. I looked for clues at the game's web site and it says you need these hotfixes, but they won't install.

Thanks so much for the help,
Eric

Welcome to VB. Very, very nice system. I suspect that the problem is that you are pushing the envelop when it comes to MS's ability to provide fixes for problems across all reasonable rig configurations.

I got this info of another forum I do not know if it will help so here it is I can confirm now that setting my evga 680i to link and sync has fixed the issue.

This board seems to have problems with mhz on RAM above 800. I have dominator 8500. Right now I have my CPU overclock of 3.4ghz and my ram set to its stock speeds of 5-5-5-15 at 2.2vdimm. Well it appears that when I set it to link and sync rather than unlinked .....I have no problems.

lets put it this way. The 680i is suffering from MAJOR Memory issues. I think the memory controller is FUBAR'd

HAHA, and yes go have a look at the HxxL being raised over at the evga motherboard forums. That forum has been raging since the release of the board.

680i seems to be plagued with problems. A damn shame.
