Does anybody here have a major problem with vista ultimate and itunes and their ipod. I have the problem where I can plug in my ipod and the system hangs. Like I can browse the internet and stuff but explorer itself lags and itunes will not open until I remove the ipod. I would like to say, it does not happen every time, just more commonly then not.

I've not experienced the iTunes/Vista compatibility issue, but there is in fact a problem that Apple is still working on fixing. Apple released iTunes 7.1 recently with the hopes that it would fix the problems, but it hasn't. Make sure you have the latest release of iTunes.

Microsoft released several patches for Windows Vista on Tuesday, including one designed to put the iPod and the new operating system back on speaking terms.

The software maker issued a patch that is designed to fix a problem that had left iPods vulnerable to being corrupted if Vista users select the operating system's Safely Remove Hardware option to eject the music player.

Apple had resolved several Vista compatibility issues in iTunes, but has continued to warn users to only use the eject function within iTunes to remove an iPod in Vista.

Microsoft and Apple representatives were not immediately available for comment.

Microsoft posted several other updates, including one aimed at fixing a problem that could have resulted in Canon EOS-1D users losing images if metadata was added to RAW files. Another update attempts to solve a video quality problem that some people were seeing when using video in interlaced mode, the type of video used by standard television.

Microsoft is working hard to ensure users of Apple's iPod music player do not experience difficulty when trying to use the device with Windows Vista, and it issued a patch to address eject issues on Tuesday.

I think it was the cable. I tried to charge my ipod with that cable and it didn't do anything. I tried a different cable and it works perfectly.

I have a problem with itunes, it doesnt let me transfer the music onto my ipod as on itunes it says it cant find the ipod, yet it removed all the songs, and wont alow me to put any more on. Never had this before, nor has anyone else. Any ideas?

The good news for Apple is that people think the iPod is pretty, and they'll continue to buy it for a long time. Truth be told, the iPod is a good player. Putting music onto it, whether from your own CD collection or purchased from iTunes, is extremely easy. But that ease of use hits an abrupt wall when you try to take that music off your iPod and move it onto another computer. Why, you may reasonably ask? Well, there's the piracy issue.
