New here so... Anyways, I bought an Acer Aspire 5630 from Best Buy. My issue is that now.. after about two weeks, Vista won't load. I see the black screen with the green loading bar, but then my system stops working and the screen goes black. Safe mode seems to work(as thats how I'm writing this), but I can't for the life of me figure out whats wrong with normal mode. I tried updating/rolling back my Video driver, but that didn't work. Any ideas or advice would be most appreciated. Thanks! Also rant he system restore program, didn't seem to help. |

| First, I'd try some system restores. You also could try repairing startup via your Vista disk (make sure it is a vista disk and not some sort of recovery disk provided by Acer). Eventually, you could try a repair install assuming that you have an appropriate Vista disk. The options become more of a problem from this point: (1) restore your system to factory fresh using any available restore partition or Disk--made available by Acer or (2) reinstall from scratch using a Vista disk. And, before contemplating anything but my first three suggestions, wait to see if someone can provide additional trouble shooting help.

| As long as the drivers for your network card are held within the Vista image you can use the card. It sounds like a driver cant be loaded. Restoring would correct this. Otherwise you would have to find out which driver it is. As Vista doesnt load it cant really be program related, unless its antivirus software. crabby |

| You can chose to to enter safe mode with or without internet support. I agree with Znod, System Restore should do the trick...unless, of course, it was turned off.

| System Restore really works. I don't understand why some people would recommend turning it off just to save HD space. It just takes about 15% of the HD space and it's well worth it.

| Felix, as I have posted many times from Sites, that post WAYS TO MAKE VISTA FASTER... they recommend TURN-OFF Restore. and every time I see someone post a site they recommend, I again post TEN WAYS TO SCREW UP Vista... every site I have visited that recommends that is one of the things recommended. WinBeta for one, another is PCTUNEUP. Quote:

| Agree 100%. I have used system restore successfully virtually countless times. I think system restore is one of Window's very best features. I would never turn it off for an unnoticable increase in any sort of system performance. Also, it is something that the Mac OS does not have--or at least did not have in Tiger back.
