I recently built a Media Center PC using Vista Home Premium. I've had occasional hiccups, but the latest one baffles me. I am sharing videos on my other computer (basically a torrent slave), which is running WinXP Pro, and have been accessing them successfully through Media Center. However, whenever I add a new video to the shared folder and then try to access it with my Vista PC it crashes Media Center. The only solution I have found so far is to reinstall DivX. That is hardly a solution however, as I can't really reinstall it every time I want to move a file. I also tried switching to ffdshow instead of normal DivX but that crashed Media Center even more often. Curiously Media Center also crashes every time I try to check the scores for MLS though all other sports leagues work fine. |

Divx can also kill or render other RECORDER Programs worthless.... Whistler and XP - Roxio and Nero had problems with DIVX... I post where you can find ... but if you have problems IT IS YOUR FAULT.

| Thanks for the responses, information, and willingness to help. A friend of mine suggested I try a modified version of FFDshow and it has fixed all of the problems, including the MLS scores one (not sure why that was affected...). Here's the link, I hope someone else finds it usefull. http://ffdshow-tryout.sourceforge.net/ |
