I just installed Roxio Media creator 7.5, and my recycle bin disappeared. Has anyone else had this problem and have a solution? I know the obvious solution would be a system restore, however sometimes I consider it a miracle some programs install, and even more so if they work after installed. I don't really want to try re-installing Roxio if I don't have to.

I've been through one system restore already and lost 3 programs, none of which were a pain to install, however, Vista gave me lip over Roxio, but I pressed on and it worked, even though I thought Vista had overruled and killed it.

Any help please.

Try this:

Right-click the desktop and choose Personalize
On the left hand side navbar of the Personalization screen, you should see Tasks and Change Desktop Icons under that. Choose Change Desktop Icons
In the Desktop Icon Settings window that opens, make sure the Recycle Bin is checked. If not, check it. If so, uncheck it, click Apply, and check it again, hitting Apply again.

Let us know if that works.

Thank You Dazzlin for the assistance. I started out following your instructions and though I lost track of what I was doing {I am very tired}, a window popped up with checkboxes for common desktop icons. I checked the recycle bin and it reappeared.

There are a few things in Vista that I can never find when I look for them. One of them is the panel where you can decide if you want to show Computer, Network, the User Folder, and, as I recall, a Recycle Bin selection on the desktop. I just looked for it again with no luck. If you find it, then try playing with the Recycle Bin icons, and see what happens. I have Roxio EMC 8 installed, but have not yet tried using it yet.
