My IP's erased every time I shut dowm my laptop

Hello guys, I have a Acer Travel Mate 6291 with Windows Vista Busisness. I usually use Wi-Fi in my house so as soon I turn on the laptop y conect automatically to the Internet via Wi-Fi. BUT in my office I don have Wi-Fi so I need to conect a cable that have a big conector very similar to a telephone one in order to have Internet.

When I conect the cable, I dont have inetenet so I need to go and put manually my IP's numbers and DNS Sever numbers and then I have internet all day.

My problem is that when I shut down the laptop and come back the next day there is no internet when I hook up the cable............. Checking were I put the IP's is blank, so I need to type again all the info again I really dont undertand why the IP's erased by themself every time I shut donw the laptop.

Can yo guys help me in order the the IP's does not ereased by themself?

THX

I believe in the control panel under internet options and then under connections click automatically detect setting and this may help or may not not sure usually any time i plug in an Ethernet cable I do not have to configure any setting the system will find its connection and connect to the net.
