There could be many reasons.

How much hard drive space is used, and have you used it or has it just been eaten by something?

When you go to task manager (Right click the task bar and select it) in the processes tab, what is the process using the CPU?

Do you have an up to date antivirus program?

Well Panarchy, Crabby and Snuffy have tried to provide you with some advice, if only you could reply. You needed help and they are offering their service; the least you can do is provide some feedback.

I don't think you understood the question.

Have you installed lots of things? If not do you know why you have a lack of hard drive space?

You have to find out what is causing the issue. It is usually a process which is running. If you go to task manager you will be able to see which process is using the resources. Once you have the name of the process you can find out what is using that process and then we can start to sort out the issue.

You either give more information or I can't help. What resources are the large ones using? In task manager have you checked 'Processes from all users'? If you go to the reliability and perofrmance monitor what resources does it show are being used? What do YOU mean by 'excruciatingly slow'?

You must know, I and many others have FIXED these issues before, so if you only gave us information we could help you!

seems he never quite understood what you were asking?
but then he is using Firefox and IE together, which is known to cause lots of problems ... the 3 svchost (I have none) and dwm only shows about 1%.
I have 49 processes showing and 2% to 3% of CPU usage.
