I tried installing NERO 7 Ultra Ed. onto Vista Beta 2 and it stopped responding towards the end of the install. Tried to uninstall, will not allow uninstall. Tried manual uninstall...will not allow. Have a viewsonic lcd monitor...keeps coming up as generic pcp monitor and will not recognise the drivers. At startup it wants to install generic drivers. I installed generic drivers and left it like that, but wants to reinstall generic drivers at startup all the time now. Ccleaner works, but does not seem to actually remove entries. I'm still fooling around with it to find out problems. Left computer running over night and at about 830am computer just shut down and restarted out of the blue....i read error log and it stated it was a power monitoring problem? Still trying to use Vista and overlook the bugs. I'll keep up with this site to see others responses... |

| Wow, you've had more problems than most people I know. Sorry to hear that, but then again, it sort of feels like the old days, when you just had to get your hands dirty to get a computer to work the way you wanted. It's been such a piece of cake over the years, I've almost forgotten what it used to be like. I imagine it will be a while before all the hardware and software companies out there have drivers or upgrades available, so for now we'll have to limp along. Such is a day in the life of a new OS beta program, I guess.

Again, though, it is just a driver issue I suspect and will probably be resolved by or shortly after Vista goes to general availability. |

I was about to try installing my Nero 6 to see if it would work. Nero is a supporter of vista so when vista hits retail or hopefully by RC1 I hope they clear all the bugs up with Nero 7. I have never used the windows burning engine because it doesn't have all the tools that I want to do and the interface is not good enough. If you're burning a simple data CD/DVD or music DVD/CD it would probably suffice. I couldn't get my Nero7 to work to burn my MP3 cd so I just used the windows interface until I get something working. I did an upgrade to vista and my Nero was already in there but when you run it there seems to be a problem with two dlls it's probably some sort of user permission/security thing. I put it into compatability mode for XP and it ran but as soon as you go to write the CD it said there was a problem and it couldn't write. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and had the same problem where it hangs. If you reboot and try the reinstall again it will install to a point and then report the dll problem and then you can uninstall completely and cleanly. I wanted to try installing as an administrator since they have full rights to all files and folders but couldn't figure out how to login as Administrator I will also try installing Nero 6 because I really don't want to go back to Roxio. |
