Networking Woes

I bought a Compaq Presario laptop with Vista Home Premium the week after it came out and while the OS itself is working acceptably I have an issue with networking. I have DSL through a modem/router with two desktops running XP on wired Ethernet, the Compaq and an Apple G4 desktop on the wireless side, and a HP6940 printer also on Ethernet. Here are the connectivity issues I have been having and need assistance with.
1) The two XP desktops see each other with no problems and can exchange data
2) All 4 computers can address the printer with no problem
3) The G4 can see the two XP desktops and work with files on it with no problem. The XP desktops can't see the G4 but that is not a problem for me.
4) The real problem is that the Compaq can't see the two XP desktops. Is this due to some funky incompatibility of XP and Vista?

Been there done that

All of these things I have done. Vista acknowledges my network, just doesn't see my XP computers. I am not worried that it doesn't see my G4.

Check out the settings in post 2 of this thread: http://thevistaforums.com/index.php?...795&hl=network. Post back if you have not luck. And, welcome. FYI, this thread (http://www.vistababble.com/forums/vi...hlight=network) shows what is possible with Macs, XPs, and Vistas--wired or wireless.

Thanks to everyone on this forum. I found out how to give my XP and G4 computers access to my Vista. Vista is like any other system. It is a good system that jsut takes some getting used to.

Printer Problems

I solved whatever printer problems I may have had by purchasing a good network printer, specifically an HP 6940 connected to the modem/router by Ethernet.. I have 4 computers that can see and print to it without a hitch - a Hewlett-Packard running XP Home on Ethernet, a shop built computer running on Ethernet, an Apple G4 on wireless and a Compaq Presario laptop running Vista Home Premium on wireless.
