Any ideas on a fix or workaround? Thanks very much!

It installed fine on this side, through Windows automatic updates. I'm not sure if you downloaded the file. If you did, perhaps the download has issues.

My download was over 200MB, but there were other PC updates as well. I don't know how long it took. I simply let the updates install automatically and I wasn't around by the time it was completed. But everything is working fine.

I'd really be intersted in hearing if you guys/gals notice any improvements for either Word or Excel. These Office 2007 programs work perfectly for me on three machines without even doing any updates. I tried updating the suite on one computer, but I still have some trouble with files that have to be used in compatibility mode.

The speed and everything else feels the same to me. Office 2007 has always worked great. Without any type of prgraming that could timed the speed of each application there's no way for me to tell if SP1 is an improvement. I imagine it's, at least from the security standpoint.

Question SP1 on a new machine

I put the SP1 update on my machine twice and had to system restore both times because it crashed my wireless connection. I have a brand new as of Dec. 21, 2007 Gateway P-170X Notebook. It is an awesome machine and I haven't had a chance to really see if this is something I need for Office 2007 or not. I need Office for my online schooling and would like to know if this is necessary to install. It is listed as Very Important and judging from what I am reading here, no one else had their wireless drivers messed with. Am I the only one? Please someone help. I also have an issue with my MSN messenger locking things up, including itself. Any suggestions? Thank you for taking the time to read this and helping me. I am a new IT student and do not know squat about the computer yet.
