Hi Friends: For the first time today, somehow, RC1 decided to see my Pharos 525 when connected via USB (i.e., it installed a driver). So, the 525 shows up in "Computer" and I can manage its files, and its SD card's files, directly. Previously, I could manage its card's files via a card slot, but could transfer files to and from the 525 clumsily only via BT. I still am unable to sync with Outlook. The 525 actually showed up in the Sync Center too. But, it would only allow me to sync music files from WMP (which I already could do)--not that I often would want to do so since it is easier simply to transfer them directly.

| Glad to see you had some progress with your Pharos problem. Can you see the COM ports 1-5 correctly now?

| Thanks much Lexy. I can see the installed com ports, but not the rest. I have figured out how to see what com port numbers are available--which I can change to. But, I still am doing no good syncing, except with WMP--which I don't want to do. I don't really use Outlook that much; it's just the challenge of syncing with it that is interesting.

| Good. I'm glad you can see the ports now too. Where are they and how do you change them in Vista? I hope you can crack the Outlook challenge. Let us know how you make out with it.

| I go Device Manager > Ports > Double Click on an Assigned Port > Port Settings > Advanced. I changed the outgoing to one of the ports shown on my Pharos for BT use. I was told that bad thing might happen if I made the change. So I made the change, of course. However, I lost the ability to do the same thing via USB. I disconnected and shut the Pharos down. I came back later and everything was back the way I started--no port number change and the Pharos workng via USB. I'm leaving it this way for now. I think the problem with Outlook is that 5600 does not support Active Sync 3, and no compatible substitute is yet available for Windows Mobile 5.0. For example, Active Syn 4, which may be built into the Sync Center, cannot be installed on 5600 for subsequent installation to the Pharos/Windows Mobile 5.0. As implied, I am beginning to think that the Sync and Windows Mobility Center are complete. If fact, it appears, contrary to earlier Vistas, that Windows Mobility Center is irrelevant to the sync issue; it is quite different than in 5472.
