Photoshop CS3 lagging problem

Hi guys,

I have a problem with Photoshop CS3 in windows vista ultimate. Sometimes I have serious lagging problems with my mouse(it seems the HDD is reading/swapping at that time). Especially when I run 3dsmax program beside it. Maybe its connected with Vista basic appearance, because I didnt have this problem in Aero, and I have a little issue in Vista basic appearance.............when I minimizing or maximizing some program, the mouse freeze for a 1/4 second. It never happens in Aero.
But I cannot use Aero all the time, because it is not compatibile with 3dsmax program, and that program is crucial for my work.

Things I have tried to solve this - notging worked....
-I have installed latest drivers for my graphic driver(also tried the older one), wacom tablet(graphire4), mouse(logitech), etc
-I have tried a different mouse
-I have tried to unplug the tablet
-I have tried to run Photoshop in Xp Sp2 compatibile mode
-I have tried to make my swap file larger, turn it off, move it to another non-system disk
-I have tried to turn off the SuperFetch function in vista
-I have tried to maximize the RAM amount in Photoshop preferences and lower the cache levels

I have this machine -
Quad core Q6600 4x2,4GHZ processor
4GB ram
Geforce 8600gts
Asus p5b-plus motherboard
Western digital sata 320gb HDD

Thanks for your help!

felix8406 will become famous soon enough

It could be a performance issue. You can try the following: Right-click 'Computer' > Select Properties > Advanced System Settings > Under Performance click Settings > On Visual Effects tab select Adjust for best performance.

If you see some improvements, then you can deduct that something is affecting your performance. It could be software related, but you cannot discard hardware related issues.

From what I can read in the new SP1, this problem will be fixed. There are many FIX references to Adobe in SP1. READING I found over 30 files for Adobe Photo Shop fixes.

Other you should try the run in Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode or set CS 3 to DEP mode.

Snuffy - thanks! I tried to run it in xp SP2 mode as I have written, but what is the DEP mode? I know about Data Execution Prevention, but how can program be set to DEP mode?

open DEP and add the xxxx.exe to it. It is then DEP.
may different programs MS picks then an says spyware and will not run, false [positive]. By entering your program into DEP it will not be checked. (suppose to work that way anyway.)
