I'm ever going to be here when I have a problem...sorry! Latest one is this... I'm trying to transfer a video film onto DVD. I have two sytems available to me...Windows Movie Maker and Ulead DVD Movie Factory for Toshiba. I've tried them both and neither copy the video with any sound! I have successfully done this process before...so where has the sound gone?? Thanks for any suggestions, Janet. |

| Hello Janet, Could you give details of what format the file is that you are trying to put onto a disc. You say you have done it before, but I presume not on Vista? Does the sound play fine on the PC, because you may be missing an audio codec in the DVDcopy programs, so they can't decode the sound to put it on the disc. If you don't know what format and codecs the file is, could you tell us the source of the video so that we may check ourselves. crabby |

| Hi Crabby! I'm trying to take the video(DVC cassette) direct from the video camera (firewire) onto the laptap and then burn to a DVD. And yes, I did it on Vista. I can transfer it to the laptop and hear the sound as it plays but I'm sure with the other ones I could hear like two sounds, first the camera and then the laptop as it was recorded. It burns the DVD OK ( although it tells me that the video is too large but after a time it completes it and burns to DVD. But...no sound! Sorry, I can't give you technical details...not my field I'm afraid...I'm just a novice! Thanks, Janet. |

| You might be burning an odd audio sample rate. Some odd rates will play in media player, but not DVD. I'm assuming that you are burning VOB (a file format that contains multiplexed MPEG-2 video and audio) normally used to burn a video DVD. You can check the rate in media player before you burn it by checking properties from the media player menu. If memory serves it should work with 22k or 44k. I use to run into this problem a lot, then I started using ConvertXtoDVD which automatically sets all formats and sample rates so that they work whether I play the DVDs on the computer or my DVD player. |
