Try checking your RAM integrity, my friend had both his DIMMs die due to dual channeling. Use memtest which you can get from here:

http://www.memtest86.com/

Let it run overnight on default, if it doesnt find any errors then type 'c-1-2-2-3-0-spacebar' and let it run again (the second time it will test your CPU cache as well).

Ran memtest and all is fine...

Ive formated and reinstalled windows now... after it was installed i booted from the xp disk and went to the recovery console and did another chkdsk from there... 51% in and it stalls... so i restart and try again... 51% stalls again... hmmm so i tried 1 more time... 51%.. yep you guessed it.. stalled..

Im going to try another mobo so i can run HDD diag from maxtor...and see if that finds any errors...

chkdsk must be really good if when it dose find an error it just crahses on you!!!

felix8406 will become famous soon enough

Had you tried doing a memory check using Vista's CD? You don't need to have Vista install to do the test.

Smile Try Hardwares

Hi have you try to diconnect everything exept mouse. keyboard, cdrom and monitor.... Then restart the PC and boot the vista DVD and ram the memtest and if is still freezes then is posible that your CPU is overheating and is causing the freeze...

Hi there, the CPU is not the problem... its not overheating.. and if it was the system would crash completely but it dont.. when in windows and it dose this if i have music playing that plays as nothing is wrong and the mouse will move but i just cant get windows to do anything!

Well what ever the problem is it seems to have stopped now... i formated and reinstalled windows xp and all is good... so far... dont know how long for tho!!
