Processes won't end

Has anyone else had this problem? In my case, the program was Frostwire. I completely exited the program but there was 4 instances of it running in the processes tab. However, the program wasn't running under the Applications tab so I don't know if that makes a difference or not. I also tried the program ProcessExplorer using the "Kill Process Tree" and that didn't work either. The only way to make it go away was to restart the computer. Any help would be appreciated. I'm using Vista Ultimate.

Thanks,
Wy

If you right click on the task bar at the bottom of the screen you can click on the task manager and end the process just like in XP with ctrl alt delete

If you right click the taskbar mentioned by Buster, you can kill (end Task) that leaves in process, which means it simply is in memory. If you move to PROCESSES, you should be able to find the .exe and Kill (end process) it there. Some times if the process is running but using no resources, you have to do this 2 times... I have found 1 program which you have to KILL 3 TIMES.
also be patient, if you use KILL give it time to KILL and actually remove for memory.. this might take 5 to 30 seconds, depending on what the program is/was... If your a TYPE "A" person like me INSTANTLY is not quite fast enough...

Snuffy -
That's the way I'm trying to end the processes. I right click on the task bar, click on Task Manager, and it brings up the Windows Task Manager. Once I'm in there, I click on the Process tab, highlight the process I want to end, and then I click on the End Process button. This still doesn't end the processes. I sat there last night for 20-30 minutes waiting on them to end and they didn't. I had to restart the computer for them to clear the memory (if that's what you guys are saying). If this is not what you guys are saying to do, then obviously I'm missing something. I use the Task Manager to end process all the time and I've never encountered this problem. And you're right - I'm a very impatient person.

felix8406 will become famous soon enough

If you are unsuccessful using the methods just described, try login off and log back on. And if I were you, I'll remove the application. There are many more applications, known to work, that can do a better job. You must wonder what the program is transmitting from your PC while are trying to close it. Spyware can come in many forms.

Hi Felix - so the way I was opening is different from what they're describing?

Yes I have the latest version. I installed that before I even installed Frostwire. I have 2gb of ram so I would hope that's enough.

Not sure then, but I have never tried FrostWire... but many P2P programs have a problem "Shutting Off" when they are "uploading". Have you ever just tried "Killing the Internet link". and see what happens .. since it seems to have a problem killing FrostWire...
Have you tested any other P2P programs?
Have you made sure the Kill instantly on FrostWire is set correctly?
You need to have the shutdown switch set to "INSTANTLY" NOT AFTER TRANSFERS.

Quote:
FrostWire 4.13.1.8 is the latest version and has Kill Instantly in the System Tray Options..
