RAM I can upgrade no problem. In your opinion, what would be the best replacement graphics card set up for this system? I definately want my surround back and do not know the specs on the Creative SB Live.
You probably will find a beta driver for you SB system at creative.com. Just go to downloads and follow your nose. 5.1 will not be enabled yet. You'll have 2.1 even though Media Center will act like you have 5.1. And, what graphics card do you have? I'd just go with the Vista Premium Ready ATI or NVIDIA card of your choice--assuming you meet the pertinent system requirements (e.g., power supply wattage). How many watts on your power supply? Without at least, say, 300W, you may be out of luck.

Put simply... it all comes down to bottlenecks... therefore you do not wish to purchase anything which will be held back by components you already have. In this respect, upgrading to 1GB is a good idea and buying a graphics card is also a good idea. Make the graphics card cheap and cheerful as the processor will quickly become the bottle nexk if you get something too lavish. I suggest a high end nvidia 6 series or low end 7 series. I all the upgrades should cost more than $100

Okay, I went to Creative, and no matter what, I received this "Please note that the product you have selected has been classified as "End of Service Life"

So to me it looks like I need a new sound card.

Sad, but true Tony. But, you'll probably be happier with a new one anyway.

Back again!

Okay, Creative states they are not going to develop a driver for the Creative Live! Series (WDM) sound card. And when I looked to Dell for a replacement, they show a refurbished version of what I have only. What choices do I have for replacing this card with something that is Vista compatible? Will other cards fit my Dimesions 2400? Or am I out of luck?
