hi, over the last month or so my hard drive will let off a high pitched screeching sound. some days it doesnt , and for the last three nights its done it every night . nothing happens to the display of my lappy and all systems carry on as normal, please advise, cheers

I had a system that did that all the time thought mine was the heat sink fan but I changed system with same hard drive and it was still there and it was a WD 20 gig worked fine for 5 years but always had that tinny whine and i sold it to a guy and told him it whined but worked fine and he is still using it so I guess thats my story is it going to go bad i do not know the answer.

Maybe its nothing... I would BACK UP everything. I would not take a chance.
