Intermittent blinking or flashlight of screen (display) in any mode. Whether it be in an Office program or scrolling down a page in Firefox, the screen will flash on and off at different rates or go completely black. It will happen randomly as in after a few re-starts it seems to go away. In fact as I’m entering this post, it hasn’t flashes or blinked in two hours. As for specs: I’ve updated the graphic card (ATI Radeon HD 2400 pro) with the latest updates and drivers. Fan is running and doesn’t seem to be a heat issue I have a HP Pav a6150e, AMD 64X2 Dual Core 4K+ 2.1GHz, 2Gb ram, MS Vista, Home Premium 32-bit I read about updating the drivers for the BIOS, though I do not know how to do this. Any ideas on what is causing this? |

| Here is your site for HP approved driver upgrades. It may not be the most up to date, so once you know exactly what hardware you have you may want to look for the manufacturers website to see if their is a newer driver than on this site: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...461443&lang=en It even has a bios update on there, so you can try that! If you don't know how to, then post back and I am sure I or some one else will be able to walk you through it. You might also want to check out the ATI forums, as others may have that issue. It may even be that your card is damaged. What card did you have before and did it do the same thing? crabby |

| It could actually be a hardware problem. If you still are in warranty, then I'd call HP support to at least get the matter on record. The HP site will provide a useful array of driver updates for your machine. Did you install any new software around the time the flashing began?

| That used to be a problem a while back with a certain driver but I have not hear of this in a long time when you say latest ATI drivers it should be the CCC 8.1 is the newest and I have used ATI for years and my favorite today is Sapphires ATI HD 2600 XT have it is three systems and it is fast FPS plus it is the card with ony 256 memory but DDR4 with a core clock of 800 mzh and a memory clock of 1100 I believe and on most sites its about 124.00 which is not a bad price for a Video card of this type and very good review on most sites. I would reseat the card and check connections and drivers. One other thought did you uninstall the old drivers before installing the new card and what brand was the orginal card.Good Luck

| Updated with ATI to v8 Have phoned/email HP several times to no avail intergrated Nvidia graphics that I did disable when loaded the Radeon. No new software, card is firmly in place as is DVI cable. FYI this is a tower not a laptop, so no heat issues. Some others have said not to mess with the BIOS as I may really mess up Vista. Can you tell me what to look for and walk me thru it? |

| Phoning HP should take you right to support. Are you saying you haven't reached HP support or that they don't have an answer?

| I see. Apparently, this problem has been reported by others. Yes? What has HP tried, or were you told?

| It sounds like your screen is intermittently losing power, my girl friends laptop had it. All you can do is send it to be repaired. Tell HP support exactly what my first line says and they should say an engineer needs to see it. HP will then repair it free of charge. crabby Last edited by crabby : 01-28-2008 at 10:13 AM. |

| The issue with intermittent blinking are still occurring. Here is what I have done thus far (though not in this order) Updated the bios Disabled ‘TMM’ Switched from Aero to basic Updated drivers and updates from ATI Ensured that intergrated nvidia driver is disabled Tested LCD monitor (HP v2007) on another computer with XP from several re-starts and from stand-by and hibernation with no issues with the monitor blinking Radeon card has fan running and does not seem to get to hot Cable connections are secure |
