Sleep mode in Vista dodgy?

When I place my PC in sleep mode in Vista, it restarts. I have tried entering "powercfg /hibernate on" in the command line window. Did not work

When I placed my PC in sleep mode in XP, it also failed till I applied a hotfix. Turned out I had too much RAM (2Gb)!

How do I enable hibernation in Vista? Cannot see an entry in Control Panel. Alternatively, is there a hotfix?

Thanx

Lo Matt Have you tried using the shutdown command from Run? Simply search for Run in the Start Menu... open it and type
Quote:
shutdown -h -t 0
See if that works and post back

Is your machine a desktop? Desktops seem to be sleep challenged compared to laptops. I say why sleep it or hibernate it unless you need to move it about--as in a laptop? I never sleep or hibernate my desktop.
