to burn a CD with 300 MB of information (photos) on it? It takes me about thirty-forty minutes. Something does not seem right. I could do it a lot faster on my desktop that is about 300 years old. I would have thought it would be a lot faster on this new computer. Am I using the wrong media? How do I figure out what I *should* be using? |

| Any compatible media should be OK. What speed are you burning at? What program are you burning with? Info please.

| Even at the slower speed, it shouldn't take more than five minutes as stated here in this thread. You may try restarting your system, enter the BIOS and change the IDE/ATAPI drive settings to 'Auto'. |

| I see; but the issue with the BIOS is not necessarily means that the BIOS itself or the motherboard doesn't recognize the CD-ROM or Burner. The issue could be a miscommunication between the BIOS and the OS. Setting the BIOS for a particular component to AUTO provides the OS a better option to use that component. |
