You could swap hard drives for a trial. Maybe it's your bios.

I am not sure, but something is happening, right? Bios? Driver for hard drive? Bad hard drive? Troubled boot loader? Problem with Vista start up? You could try repairing your Vista start up with your Vista DVD.

felix8406 will become famous soon enough

Since it happens with both Win XP and Vista, the issue is hardware related. The no HD activity indicates a possible conflict between two components. You can troubleshoot that by removing one component at a time and restarting the PC.

I doubt that the hard drive is bad, because if it was, the problem would be worst with time.

different post "thread" Seansmit17 admits to a faulty fan, and overclocking his CPU ..
(IMHO) this is the cause of all his problems...

Snuffy.. OCing the pc wont cause these problems.. plus its always done this even before i overclocked the cpu.. and the cpu is only overclocked a little bit.. from 2.66ghz witch is the stock speed up to 2.86Ghz.

Ill try removing bits and see what happens.
