Thumbnail caching is slooooow in vista!

I have directories with lots of jpegs in them, about 1500-3000 per directory, and the thumbnail caching runs very very slow! I have to go through and select 3 images out of 3000 for my job which takes 2 years in vista. I have 2 wd raptors running in raid with 2 gig of ram and dual xeons. So my pc isn't the issue. Worked fine in XP. Is there a way I can speed this up?

You can speed everthing up quite a bit, in general, by using Control Panel > System > Advanced system settings > Settings > Adjust for best performance. I think you still will see facsimiles of your pics much more quickly, but, if not, then at least you will see their names much more quickly.

Send a message via MSN to Snuffy

I had to allow pages with lots of pic and icons to sync.. made it faster for me.
so suggest that you make sure sync is on

I thought that might happen. Oh, well. How about using the Bridge in Photoshop to see your pics having set your computer for maximum performance?
