Toshiba, Windows Vista, Wifi

Hi everyone,
I recently got a Toshiba Satelite A100 labtop. When in my house, since I have a router I can connect to the internet. Now my school has Wifi but when I'm there I can't connect. Now there is a solution online to change my settings in networking and sharing centre but I still can't connect to wifi. The weird things is my computer is seeing the connection but can\t connect to wifi. Has anyone else had this issue?

it could be that your school has some security mesures like a WEP key. It would seem silly for a school not to have wireless encryption.

Yes I have the same problem. I can only connect via Ethernet connection at home and although it shows up the wireless connection it will still not connect.

I have had no such problems anywhere--including many, many places other than home. Try connecting as a private network first, and see what happens. No keys should be involved unless you have been "asked" to provide one.

Have you removed the "Default" only connection ?
My system defaulted to "my home" and all I have had to do is remove the
"DEFAULT Connect only" and now I have most of the time several options to connect to different networks.

Here's hoping they don't just link it to their only wireless network and it works straight off the bat That really wouldn't help YOU! I hate how computer techs have no scope to work outside their little world
