UAC stops Windows Live Messenger from working

I was getting really annoyed with the UAC so I turned it off, but now with that off Windows Live Messenger stops working and shows that 'Messenger has stopped working' box.

Stupid UAC!
Is there anyway round it or will I have to keep UAC on to use WLM?

They are 2 seperate issues. Uninstall WLM through the control panel.. then reinstall and it should work.

Windows Live Mail Desktop and Windows Live Messenger work fine here.
I have never seen the UAC with either one...both totally separate from ea other.

Yeah, I've tried that plus running it in Windows XP Compatibility.
Doesn't work, I've put UAC back on because I needed to use WLM.
So I don't know what it could be.

Just one question. Is your version of Vista an Honest Genuine install?
The reason I ask. Many people who are using a hacked/cracked version of Vista are having the same problem..
Just asking - Not implying. The second most allowed comment is UAC kills WLMsg is due to "You are infected"

there are more but the 2 most noted are
1. Illegal Version of Vista installed
2. computer is infested.. with ????

Better be. £600 this cost me this laptop.
Vista came preinstalled.

Checked for viruses using a boot-timed scan so nothing virus-like and scanned the laptop using Spybot and Ad-aware.
Can't be a malware problem...
