Unable to change workgroup

Ok First I into Control Panel, then select System. I click change settings under Computer Name, domain and workgroup settings. I click on change to rename this computer. It will allow me to change my computer name, but will not give me the option to change workgroup. Meaning that the option is there but it is shaded grey and not able for my input. Any ideas, anyone?

Are you a member of a domain. I think things work differently if so. Anyway, most are not domain members. Regardless, I have not seen your problem before. I have searched and cannot find reference to the problem. When I get in this position, I fall back on doing a repair intstall of Vista. You will need an install DVD. I am not sure if an upgrade DVD will do.

Start up as normal and then run the installer from within Vista. The procedure is very safe and sound; however, as with any install, back your files up first. The procedure will leave you computer as is--except that you may have to reset a few settings.
