Anyone know how to resolve an "Unknown Device" driver issue? I've installed Vista Beta 2 (Build 5384) on an HP Pavilion a1430n (AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+, 1.0 Gb DDR2 RAM, HP vs17e Monitor, NVidia GeForce 6150 LE Graphics Adapter, Built in Realtek High Definition Audio, etc. etc.. The specifics can be found here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...name=c00607960 Problem is I have the sound driver installed (Microsoft Windows Update), but the "speaker" icon in the system tray shows "disabled" and i can't hear any sound. I did eventually find the right driver from Realtek, installed it and the sound was "enabled". I still can't hear any sound, and the "Unknown Device" is driving me nuts. Any help? |

| A lot of people have had problems with that. I've seen various possible solutions, but some people never seem to solve it. Here are the things I've seen so far: 1. Try setting the driver files/folders in xp compatibility mode and/or using admin privileges. See this thread for details. 2. Some people have had the problem solved simply by doing a windows update. (Control Panel/System and Maintenance/Windows Update). 3. Some have dealt with it from a motherboard level - doing a flash bios update, I believe. Hope one of these helps. If not, might just have to wait until the next beta upgrade is available to see if that helps. Good luck.
